The Seebi temple built by Lakshminarasayya, Puttanniah and Nallappa is dedicated to the memory of Kacheri Krisnayya and Alamelamma, their parents, as homage who performed ‘Sati’. Inscriptions related to this were found at their palace ‘Vasant Mahal’ in Tumkur.
Lord Narasimha is shaped larger than a linga, and is facing north east direction. Lord Narasimha is in the divine form of a shaligrama. Subsequently, this Shaligrama was also worshipped by Lord Sri Rama, for begetting issues. It is also said that Chandrahasa, the then king of Kuntala also worshipped the Narasimha Shaligrama for removal of obstacles.
In 1797 in the erstwhile Mysore state Fauzdar Nallapa along with his brothers, a Fauzdar (Military Head) under Mummudi KrishnaRaja Wodeyar, started to build the temple.
